More train seats on track

PEOPLE living near the new $324 million Robina to Varsity Lakes railway extension will be invited to try it out at an open day on December 13, the day before the new service is launched.

The Bligh Government yesterday also announced the Airtrain would stop at the new station along with an extra morning and evening peak-hour service to Brisbane which will provide seats and standing room for another 1400 passengers a day.

Bus services would be reconfigured to take in the new station.

Transport Minister Rachel Nolan said the new Varsity Lakes station would have 300 commuter car-parking spaces, 50 bicycle lockers, a bus interchange, a taxi rank and a kiss-and-ride passenger drop-off facility.
